FBLA “State-only” Competitive Events: Deadline December 9
The competition deadline for Pennsylvania FBLA “state-only” competitive events is Monday, December 9. On this date, state only competitors must have all necessary files and recorded videos of your presentation uploaded and submitted for Pennsylvania state pre-judging.
State-only individual/team events are considered the “second” component of the PA FBLA competitive events program.
What are “state-only” individual/team competitive events?
- They are official competitive events.
- They are not offered at the Regional Leadership Conferences. Competitors submit items to be judged directly to the state office. Fifteen finalists are announced to make live performances at the state conference. Finalists are announced no later than January 31, 2025.
- Students can qualify for state and national competition.
- Events are either individuals OR teams of 2-3. Each chapter is entitled to two entries.
- The events have a pre-recorded performance submitted for judging. Some of the events have written reports that must be submitted. Some of the events have projects that must be created first before creating the pre-recorded performance.
- Many of the events must be created based on a specific topic published by National FBLA.
- Students may compete in one regular RLC individual/team events OR one “state-only” individual/team event, not both. Students are permitted to compete in ONE event only. Students may also participate in a chapter event as a presenter on behalf of the chapter, but the chapter events are not a student’s primary event.
This is a summary of what must be completed for each of the state-only competitive events. When a pre-recorded performance is required, the competitors must treat that as if they were presenting live in front of a panel of judges.
Competitors should thoroughly study the competitive events guidelines and make sure their projects / performances are constructed and developed meeting the expectations found on the rating sheets.
There are a series of recorded Zoom meetings discussing preparation for these events. Links to those that have been recorded so far:

All pre-recorded videos are uploaded to YouTube in your adviser’s YouTube account as “unlisted.” DO NOT UPLOAD ANY VIDEOS FROM PERSONAL STUDENT ACCOUNTS. Please make video submissions to your adviser for uploading on or before Monday, December 9, 2024.
