The American Red Cross provides multiple services to our citizens and communities across the country, but disaster relief is a significant part of what they do. Today, there are numerous communities and citizens from Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and other areas of the South and the Midwest whose lives have been shattered by Hurricane Helene. It will take years to recover from the devastation. Lives have been cut short as the number dead is approaching 100 with many more missing. There are towns unreachable as infrastructure has been devastated; supplies have to be airlifted. In areas, there are no communication options; that infrastructure has been destroyed. Unfortunately, there is still 1\/3 of the hurricane season remaining with tropical storms already forming that could impact areas in the Gulf of Mexico region again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You, your family, and friends, are encouraged to make a contribution to the American Red Cross via Pennsylvania FBLA using Venmo. Every dollar helps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When making a contribution to the American Red Cross via Pennsylvania FBLA using Venmo, please specify:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Your Name<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>School: Lehigh Career &amp; Technical Institute<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>American Red Cross state project on behalf of Pennsylvania FBLA<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-default\">\n<p>For the third time in just over a year, the American Red Cross is swiftly mobilizing volunteers and relief supplies as another major hurricane targets the Florida Panhandle. In the past 13 months, we\u2019ve been there for communities during Hurricanes Idalia, Debby, and now Helene, which is heading towards Florida\u2019s Big Bend region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As Hurricane Helene approaches, the Red Cross has deployed 360 trained disaster workers, trailers of supplies, and is ready to open dozens of shelters. We are also preparing 45,000 snacks and ready-to-eat meals, along with emergency response vehicles. Here in the Greater Pennsylvania Region, we are set to deploy local volunteers to assist with the response and recovery efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you know anyone in Hurricane Helene\u2019s path, they can download the free Red Cross Emergency app for real-time weather alerts, shelter locations, and expert advice on floods in both English and Spanish.
