Hershey Hospitality Internship available during State Leadership Conference

Hershey Lodge, one of Pennsylvania’s largest convention resorts, is offering internship opportunities to two FBLA members.

This experience will give the successful candidates an overview of the six operations within Hershey Lodge including Front Office Operations, Housekeeping, Convention Services, Banquet Services, Food & Beverage, and Meeting Services. This three-day experience is designed for a student with a strong career interest within the Hospitality Industry.

  1. This internship is open to all high school FBLA members, except 2025 SLC competitors in performance events, who have paid membership dues by January 31, 2025, and are interested in or planning a career in the Hospitality Industry. Applicants cannot be competitors in performance events at the SLC due to the intensity of this 3-day program.

  2. The intern, in consultation with the chapter adviser, is responsible for making and paying his/her
    – SLC Registration Fee ($105), and
    – Lodging Accommodations at the Plan B Lodging Rate, and
    – Travel Arrangements

  3. The internship begins on Sunday, April 7 at 9:00 am and ends on Wednesday, April 9, at 10:30 am.* (subject to change).
    Mr. Jason Burd, Manager, Convention Services at Hershey Lodge, will provide the agenda for the internship.

    For your convenience, interns are invited to arrive at Hershey Lodge on Saturday evening to be on site to participate in the Pre-Conference meeting on Sunday morning at 9:00 am at Hershey Lodge. The intern must have an adult chaperone (parent or adviser) on Saturday and until the adviser arrives on site. The adviser is responsible for contacting Mrs. Skiles, Conference Coordinator, regarding lodging arrangements.

    Interns are invited to the Internship Recognition Breakfast on Wednesday, April 9, at 9:45 to 10:30 am, in Cocoa Suite 1. This breakfast is recommended but not required.

  4. The intern is expected to follow the 3-day schedule provided by Hershey Lodge—no exceptions.

  5. There is no monetary compensation for this internship; however, there are many rewards from this experience. Upon completion of the internship on April 9, if the intern successfully completes all the requirements of the internship as outlined by Mr. Burd, the intern will receive a Certificate of Completion and the intern’s adviser may apply for a refund for the intern’s 2025 SLC Registration Fee and lodging fees (Saturday through Tuesday).

    During the Recognition Breakfast on Wednesday, April 9, instructions on how to apply for a refund (as outlined below)
    will be provided.

  6. The application deadline is Monday, February 17, 2025, 11:59 pm. The successful candidate will be notified by email no later than Thursday, February 20, 2025, by noon. The adviser must complete the intern’s registration and lodging on or before Saturday, February 22, 2025, by noon.

The application deadline is Monday, February 17, 2025, 11:59 p.m. EST. The successful candidate will be notified by email no later than Thursday, February 20, 2025, by noon. Registration and lodging must be completed by Saturday, February 22, 2025, by noon.
