A reminder as we enter the fourth quarter, Professionals in the field of new media technology have an expectation from their employers to appear as a professional within the industry. As per LCTI policy and in accordance with the expectation of business and industry, students within the IT Academy will be required to wear uniform in accordance with the expectation of the professional workplace.
Uniforms will consist of the following formats including:
Failure top appear in uniform will result in a disciplinary referral and an employability grade point grade of zero (0) for the day.
The LCTI Photo ID Center will be open for student ID photos on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the following times:
Replacement ID cards are $3.00.
All LCTI students are to have an LCTI ID on their person at all times while on the LCTI campus.
The FBLA Cafe is open every weekday with light snacks and drinks to help you through your learning at LCTI.

CS 501.1 – Communication Skills
Communication is the process of exchanging information, feelings, ideas, etc. between people. It involves the verbal language used as well as non-verbal messages. There are many benefits of effective communication including building trust, removing barriers, providing clarity, increasing productivity, and strengthening team work. These things lead to successful outcomes for you and for others. Learning to be an effective communicator is an important goal you can set for yourself and completing this course will help you achieve it!
CS 502.1 – Time Management
This course provides a solid foundation in the skills, tools, and strategies employees, interns, or students should possess to manage varying tasks and calendars effectively and efficiently. By placing these skills in a context of personal, social, and professional goals or priorities this course aims to build the resources, confidence, and direction necessary to take control of your time and increase your productivity through the development of a time management plan. Time is constant, but the way we interact with it isn’t. Purposefully engaging in the choices we
make about our time is the mindset behind time management. In this course, students will learn
about the skills and behaviors of time management, see some of the many benefits time management can offer, and start to reflect on ways to better manage their time.
CS 505.1 – Teamwork
This course covers strategies and techniques that will help you become a more effective and valued team member. Working on a team means that you have to be able to successfully communicate and collaborate with others. As a result, learning constructive ways to acknowledge differences and show respect is critical. Also, central to healthy communication is the ability to handle conflict. Though you may not be a team lead, you can still make an important contribution by being a strong team member and modeling leadership characteristics. This course will teach you the fundamental skills necessary to be a strong team player and contribute to the overall success of your team.
CS 506.1 – Written Communication
The ability to write communications that are accurate and easily understood is a vital skill in the workplace. If you can’t communicate your ideas to others, you will hinder your professional growth. In this course, we’ll review specific areas that you can focus on to improve the correctness and clarity of your writing. We’ll review common errors and tips and tricks to help improve your writing. This will enable you to create communications that allow the reader to focus on the message you are communicating. We will also look at how best to create specific artifacts such as emails, business letters, and meeting communications. Additionally, we’ll review communication etiquette, as well as best practices in the use of instant messenger software.
CS 507.1 – Materials Management
Materials management deals with the flow of goods and services, from order placement to product or service delivery. The management of material resources is an essential workplace skill and includes everything from managing resources for a project to keeping an office supplied with what you need for daily operations. It is a skill that is critical for every organization, from healthcare providers to retail, to offices, and beyond. Every organization, big or small, needs to recognize what they have in stock and what they need to meet their goal, whether they are providing a service or a finished product.
CS 504.1 – Human Resource Management
The Human Resource Department is the one that monitors the culture of the organization, is responsible for recruiting the top workforce, recommend market-based salaries and develop an overall strategic compensation plan, as well as researches, recommends, and implements employee benefits programs that attract and retain the best employees. The Human Resource Management course is designed to familiarize students with the concepts related to human resource management, including legal requirements, employee selection considerations, and employee development and evaluation. This course provides a foundational knowledge of human resources functions, issues, and strategies, as well as the basic competencies and responsibilities of a human resource manager. This course will help you better understand the role of Human Resource function and the role this discipline plays within the workplace.
CS 508.1 – Personal Financial Management
Financial literacy is a fundamental life skill. Developing and growing this skill means not only assuring day-to-day financial stability, but also laying the groundwork that will set students up for future success by having adequate emergency funds, in building solid credit, and planning for future expenses.
CS 509.1 – Workplace Financial Management
This course provides practical workplace financial management skills that will allow the student to effectively manage resources to maximize progress towards a business goal. Utilizing standard workplace tasks, students will be introduced to common terms and strategies for determining the success of a potential business venture, interpreting financial documents such as an income statement, budgets, and strategic planning.
CS 510.1 – Critical Thinking
Critical thinking is a fundamental skill for effectively making decisions, problem solving, and accessing creative solutions. The strategic approach that is critical thinking unlocks opportunities for personal and professional growth while encouraging a path of lifelong learning. We can consider critical thinking as an umbrella term for a collection of skills and qualities that allow one to approach a decision or problem in a strategic and logical way.
CS 500.3 – Interview Skills
Provide your students with the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful in going through the interview process and obtaining employment, as well as provide them the opportunity to practice interview techniques at an early age. Through this training, students will learn about seeking and securing employment, workplace ethics, and success in the workplace.
CS 503.1 – Cybersecurity Essentials for Work
This course provides a solid foundation of essential cybersecurity knowledge employees, interns, or students should possess in order to make them an informed and engaged digital citizen poised to protect an organization’s electronic data and digital infrastructure from common cybersecurity threats.

The stairwells in the middle and at the far end of the D-wing are emergency access stairwells and are for student use only in the event of an emergency building evacuation. This includes A.L.I.C.E. threats and fire drills.
For your own safety, please do not use the emergency access stairwells in either the middle of the D-wing or at the far end of the D-wing in the area of Health & Medical Science / Teacher Education.
All students should be using the main stairwell at all times that is located between the small cafeteria and the student services office.
